The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights paid a visit to the Heves County Aranyhíd Integrated Social Care Institution on 12 October 2023. Dr. Ákos Kozma, together with the staff members of the Disability Directorate of the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, got informed about the operation of the 285-bed institution based in Füzesabony and inspected the living conditions of the residents. At the facility, special care and nursing services are provided to mental health patients and addicted persons.

Dr. Ákos Kozma and his staff members conducted an on-site inspection at the Heves County Remand Prison in the framework of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT) National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) on 12 October 2023. The Ombudsman was received by Prison Brigadier General, Commander of agglomeration area No. 4 Mr. László Nagy and Prison Lieutenant Colonel, Prison Governor Mr. Tamás Molnár.

On 12 October 2023, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary paid a visit to the Menedék Temporary Shelter for Families of the Hungarian Red Cross. Dr. Ákos Kozma found out about the operation of the 40-bed institution in Salgótarján. The institution provides help for single parent families and expectant mothers who seek shelter due to losing their homes, financial difficulties, family crises, divorce, abuse or other transitional problems.

The literary and arts competition invited by the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary entitled “My Life After Covid” in 2023 was a great success.

The Ombudsman was received by head of the institution Prison Colonel Mr. Tamás István Perger.

Dr. Ákos Kozma and his staff members conducted an on-site inspection at the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Remand Prison on 5 October 2023 in the framework of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT) National Preventive Mechanism (NPM). The Ombudsman was received by head of the institution Prison Colonel Mr. Sándor Péter Pancsusák.
