Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Visits Tolna County Remand Prison

On 13 October 2021, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, responsible for performing the tasks of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) operating on the basis of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT) paid a visit to the Tolna County Remand Prison.

Dr Ákos Kozma Meets with Czech and Slovak Ombudspersons

Ombudsman Dr Akos Kozma conducted preparatory talks with the heads of the partner ombudsman institutions for the meeting of the ombudsmen of the Visegrád Group (V4) countries to be held in Visegrád, Hungary this year, organised by the Office of the Hungarian Commissioner for Fundamental Rights. Such talks included a meeting with Slovak Ombudsperson Mrs Mária Patakyová in Bratislava on 7 September 2021 and with Czech Ombudsman Mr Stanislav Křeček in Brno on 9 September 2021.

Ombudsman Visits HDF 37th “II. Rákóczi Ferenc” Engineer Regiment

On 7 October 2021, Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the “Damjanich János” Barrack in Szentes. The Ombudsman was informed about the tasks of the Hungarian Defence Forces 37th “II. Rákóczi Ferenc” Engineer Regiment by Colonel László Antal, Regimental Commander.

Visit to “Fészek” Children’s Home in Lőrinc

On 7 October 2021, Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the “Fészek” Children’s Home of the Heves County Child Protection Centre in Lőrinc. The institution provides home for 24 children benefiting from child protection services and young adults receiving follow-up care.

On 5 October 2021, Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma and Deputy Commissioner for Fundamental Rights responsible for the protection of the interests of future generations Dr. Gyula Bándi attended the session of the National Assembly’s Committee on Sustainable Development, where the parties discussed Report No. B/15278 on the activities of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and his Deputies in 2020.
