Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Visits Help Point and Border Crossing Point at Lónya
On 22 March 2022, Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma visited the Lónya Help Point and the border crossing point located between Lónya and Dzvinkove in the company of Fire Colonel Mr. Béla Varga, Head of Directorate for Disaster Management of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County.

Ombudsman Hands Over Donations Collected by his Office for Lónya Help Point
On 22 March 2022, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma and his staff members handed over the donations collected for the Lónya Help Point to the volunteers of the Hungarian Red Cross.

Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Opens Miskolc Regional Office
On 22 March 2022, the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights opened its regional office in Miskolc. Thus, from 1 April 2022, citizens will be able to personally request the Ombudsman’s inquiry not only in Szeged, Debrecen and Győr, but also in this major city of Northern Hungary. As Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights underlined during the opening ceremony, the regional offices allow for more efficient contacts with citizens, as well as with persons fleeing to Hungary from the war in Ukraine.

Dr. Ákos Kozma Delivers Speech at ÉFOÉSZ Anniversary Event
The Hungarian Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability (ÉFOÉSZ) celebrated its 40th anniversary on 21 March 2022 at the Museum of Fine Arts. At the anniversary event, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma also greeted the participants.

IOI European Regional President and Slovenian Ombudsman Visit Hungarian–Ukrainian Border in Company of Dr. Ákos Kozma
In the company of Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma, Greek Ombudsman and President of the European Region of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) Mr. Andreas Pottakis and Slovenian Ombudsman Mr. Peter Svetina and his Deputy paid a visit to the Hungarian–Ukrainian border section to gather information about the current situation of the people fleeing from the war, the circumstances of their reception and the measures taken to help them. As of 17 March 2022, the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights (OCFR), which is a National Human Rights Institution accredited by the UN, will provide direct support to the refugees fleeing the war at its information point set up in Beregsurány.
