Ombudsman Payed a Visit to Hegyeshalom Border Crossing Point

On 23 April 2020, Dr. Ákos Kozma visited the motorway border crossing point located between Hegyeshalom and Nickelsdorf. The Ombudsman, accompanied by Director of Police Complaints Department Dr. Domonkos Wildner, surveyed the control of traffic passing through the border, as well as the implementation of healthcare measures adopted in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Visit to the Border Crossing Point at Fertőrákos

On 23 April 2020, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the road border crossing point linking Fertőrákos and Mörbisch (Fertőmeggyes). Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma and Director of Police Complaints Department of the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Domonkos Wildner were received by Brigadier General and Head of Győr-Moson-Sopron County Police Headquarters Gábor Csizmadia at the border crossing station, which had been re-opened just one day earlier. From 22 April 2020, the border crossing point at Fertőrákos can be used again by the Hungarian and Austrian citizens commuting between the two countries so as to speed up border crossing.

On 23 April 2020, Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Letenye Motorway – Goričan II road border crossing point. The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, accompanied by Director of Police Complaints Department of his Office Dr. Domonkos Wildner, inspected traffic passing through the Hungarian–Croatian border, as well as the implementation of healthcare measures adopted in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Ákos Kozma and Deputy Commissioner for the Protection of Future Generations Gyula Bándi Urge a New Approach to Environmental Protection on the Occasion of Earth Day

The Fundamental Law provides enhanced protection to the natural and cultural heritage of our nation, and imposes the obligation to protect the interests of future generations on all of us. The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and his Deputy Commissioner for the Protection of Future Generations jointly draw attention to the fact that the above requirements set out in the Fundamental Law are only met if they are properly reflected in legislation and official decisions, thereby ensuring that the right to a healthy environment is enforced in all parts of our country, and everyone acknowledges that his or her daily decisions can directly affect the state of our environment, as well as the equal opportunities of present and future generations.
