Summing up the six years’ mandate of the deputy commissioner responsible for the protection of the rights of nationalities (national minorities) living in Hungary
The deputy commissioner responsible for the protection of the rights of national minorities living in Hungary, during her mandate between 2013 and 2019, raised her voice in the field of the enforcement of minority rights in many cases. She made references not only to the Fundamental Law and the national laws of Hungary granting the rights of national minority communities, but she also pointed out the international law aspects related to the judicial practices and phenomena that may raise concerns with regard to the rights of national minorities. In her reports and general comments, she also took into account the provisions of the relevant human rights conventions as well as the documents and recommendations issued by the international bodies in charge of monitoring compliance with these international treaties.
