null The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Delivered a Lecture on Current Challenges in the Child Protection System and the Promotion of Legal Awareness

 

On 24 April 2025, Dr. Ákos Kozma, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, delivered a keynote address at the child protection conference organized by the Government Office of Csongrád-Csanád County.

Following the opening remarks by Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of the Republic of Hungary, Dr. Ákos Kozma addressed the current challenges facing the child protection system, its relevance from the perspective of fundamental rights, and key areas of professional focus aimed at safeguarding the rights of children.


 

In his speech, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary highlighted the constitutional guarantees that underpin the protection of children and presented a number of initiatives launched under his mandate. These initiatives are designed to enhance legal awareness among children, particularly those in vulnerable situations, and to improve their living conditions. Dr. Ákos Kozma also spoke about the Residential Home Renovation Programme, launched in 2021 at the initiative of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, and the Mobile Educational Point initiative introduced in 2024.


 

The Commissioner welcomed the opportunity for dialogue provided by the conference and emphasized its value as a platform for building professional bridges among experts working in the field of child protection.
