Visit to Children’s Transit Home of Fészek Child Protection Association
Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Children’s Transit Home of the Fészek Child Protection Association in Érd on 11 March 2024.

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary was shown around the fourteen-capacity home by the head of the institution Ms. Szilvia Nyitrai-Hell. Children in crisis may be placed in a children’s home for various reasons (abuse, family issues, homelessness, etc.) up to the age of 18. In justified cases, mothers can also be admitted. Currently, services are provided to five local municipalities. During the maximum eighteen months that the children can spend at the Children’s Transit Home, the staff endeavours to seek solutions to the problems with the help of experts in order to return the children to their own families if possible. Since its establishment, the home has taken care of nearly six hundred children.
The Ombudsman will draw up a report about the visit.
