Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Takes Part in Police Day Events

On 24 April, we celebrate the day of Saint George, who is the patron saint of security services and police forces, which is the Day of the Police in Hungary. In his speech, Dr. Ákos Kozma praised the staff members of the police, who always perform their job with perseverance and professional commitment.

Since 1992, 24 April, i.e. St. George’s Day has been the Day of the Police in Hungary. On this day, we celebrate policemen and the staff members of the police, who practice their highly responsible profession all over the country and on the borders of Hungary every day of the year, not sparing time and energy, working for our safety.

The Day of the Police is celebrated as a nationwide series of events, several stations of which were also attended by Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary Dr. Ákos Kozma, who also took part in the central event held on 20 April 2023, on the occasion of the National Day for Policemen and Firefighters.

On 21 April 2023, in his speech held at the staff meeting of the Csongrád-Csanád County Police Headquarters in Szeged on the occasion of the Day of the Police, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights stressed that the policemen and the staff members of the police work for our safety every day of the year, not sparing time and energy. We should appreciate this sacrificial work involving many difficulties and hardships.

On 22 April 2023, the Ombudsman paid a visit to another station of the series of events on the Day of the Police, on the X. National Day for Policemen and Firefighters. He attended an event in the City Park (Városliget) of Budapest, of which the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights was also an active participant.
